Salmon Derby

THE 2010 SALMON DERBY

The Middle Rogue Steelhead Chapter will hold it's Annual Restoring the Rogue Salmon Derby on Saturday September 11, 2010, with the Banquet, Calcutta, Auctions and raffle on the evening prior to the Derby. This is our yearly conservation programs fund raiser.

Funds in the amount of $15500, raised from last years derby and cookbook sales, have been allocated for seven new projects this year. Sardine Creek Dam removal project, Little Butte Creek Channel Restoration, Indian Creek Hatchery contribution, Storm Drain Marker project in Grants Pass, Mingus Creek Riparian project, and Sand Creek Study in conjuction with GPID & ODFW.

Ongoing programs such as our School Angler Education, adult fishing clinics, tree plantings, fish trap placement and monitoring with ODFW, the kids Lake Selmac free fishing day, a Disabled Veteran's fishing outing, Invasive Species identification and removal, and our annual River Cleanup are scheduled.

At Friday night's dinner we will hold our auction and raffles. Items included are rods and reels, guided day trips as well as 3 day guided river trips, dinners and overnight stays at some of So Oregon's Lodges and resorts. A new addition to our raffle last year was the 50/50 raffle where the happy winner took home over $1300 for their $5 investment. The Calcutta on the boats last year raised over $3600, 50% of which went to our Derby fund and the rest to the winning bidders of the top 3 boats.

There is going to be a limited number of guides available this year. Get your registrations in early as guides will be assigned on a first come basis.

Come and join us for a fun day of fishing on the river and you will also take home that "warm and fuzzy feeling" for having contributed to a great cause.

Thank you,
Harry Gattey & Cole Tidwell
